ECW Group successfully executed earthworks and soak away testing at key locations across BHP's Jimblebar stockyards, navigating significant time management and safety challenges in an active mining environment. The project required our team to conduct drainage tests in accordance with established soak away designs while maintaining operational continuity at this critical production facility.
One of the primary challenges was managing unpredictable timelines. The duration required to conduct each drainage test was unknown, necessitating our crew to adapt logistics and scheduling on the fly. This level of flexibility demanded constant coordination and real-time communication with BHP's mine control and planning groups to ensure our operations aligned with the broader production schedule.
Working within an active stockyarding area added another layer of complexity. With iron ore stockpiling operations critical to BHP's export schedule, our team implemented unique safety and production procedures to minimise operational disruption. This required meticulous planning, close liaison with site personnel, and strict adherence to both safety protocols and production timelines.
Despite these constraints, ECW Group successfully completed all soak away testing and drainage assessments, allowing the areas to return to full production use. The project demonstrates our capability to deliver specialised earthworks and geotechnical testing in demanding operational environments while maintaining the highest safety and quality standard.
